Window Functions bring powerful analytical capabilities to Tadabase, allowing you to perform running totals, rankings, row comparisons, and trend analysis directly in your data.
Available Window Functions
Running Total
Calculate a live running balance as rows accumulate. Perfect for:
- Account balances
- Inventory tracking
- Cumulative sales
- Year-to-date calculations
Row Number
Assign sequential numbering to records (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.). Useful for:
- Position in list
- Order of operations
- Sequential identification
- Pagination logic
Rank
Rank top performers with intelligent tie handling. Great for:
- Leaderboards
- Sales rankings
- Performance scoring
- Competition standings
Compare Rows
View previous or next row values for trend analysis. Perfect for:
- Period-over-period comparison
- Growth calculations
- Change detection
- Sequential analysis
Common Use Cases
- Financial Dashboards: Running balances, cumulative totals, period comparisons
- Sales Leaderboards: Rankings with tie handling and performance tracking
- Inventory Management: Running stock levels and trend analysis
- Reporting: Year-to-date calculations, growth percentages, sequential analysis
Example: Sales Leaderboard
Use the Rank function to create a sales leaderboard. If two salespeople have the same total, they'll both receive the same rank (e.g., both rank #2), and the next person will be rank #4.
