Why Speed Of Development Matters
Hello Tadabase users! Welcome to another insightful episode of Build It With Tim. In today's episode, we'll dive deep into the critical aspect of speed in application development, especially within the context of no-code platforms like Tadabase. We'll explore how Tadabase plugins can significantly boost your development speed and enable you to build ipressive applications in record time.
Why Speed of Development Matters
In the ever-evolving landscape of application development, speed is undeniably a top priority. No-code platforms, like Tadabase, have revolutionized the way we create applications, emphasizing the importance of rapid development. Here's why speed matters:
-
Competitive Edge: In today's fast-paced business environment, being first to market with a new application or feature can make all the difference. Speedy development allows you to seize opportunities before your competitors do.
-
User Expectations: Users today demand quick access to innovative solutions. A slow development process can frustrate users and drive them away. Speedy app delivery keeps your audience engaged and satisfied.
-
Resource Efficiency: Traditional coding can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. No-code platforms streamline the development process, reducing the need for extensive coding, testing, and debugging.
Achieving Speed with Tadabase Plugins
Now, let's explore how Tadabase plugins can supercharge your development speed:
-
Instant Functionality: Tadabase plugins are pre-built code snippets that you can install with a simple click. They provide instant functionality to your applications without the need to write complex code from scratch.
-
Effortless Installation: Installing a plugin, such as the Side Panel Data Widget, is a breeze. Just navigate to the Plugins section in Tadabase, select the desired plugin, choose the component you want to enhance, and click "install." It's that easy!
-
Time Savings: With plugins, you can skip the hours of manual configuration. Instead, you can focus on fine-tuning and customizing the plugin to suit your application's unique needs. This translates to significant time savings.
-
User-Friendly: You don't need to be a coding expert to leverage Tadabase plugins. They're designed with a no-code interface, making them accessible to citizen developers and seasoned professionals alike.
-
Flexibility and Control: While plugins offer instant functionality, they also provide you with complete control. You can adjust the plugin's appearance using CSS and fine-tune its behavior with JavaScript, tailoring it to your specific requirements.
-
Endless Possibilities: Tadabase offers a wide range of plugins, each serving a distinct purpose. Whether you need to display progress bars, integrate external services, or enhance user interfaces, there's a plugin to accelerate your development.
Conclusion
In conclusion, speed of development is paramount in the world of application development. No-code platforms like Tadabase recognize this need and offer powerful solutions through plugins. These plugins empower you to create, iterate, and deliver applications at a pace that keeps you ahead of the curve.
By harnessing the capabilities of Tadabase plugins, you not only save valuable time but also unlock endless possibilities for your projects. Whether you're building for your business or consumers, speed is your ally in achieving success.

Introduction
Hey everybody, this is Build It with Tadabase.
Today's Focus: Power, Flexibility, and Speed
In today's episode, we're not so much building things as we are talking about how to build things and discussing Tadabase as a platform. As the no-code industry continues to expand, allowing citizen developers to build incredible applications for their businesses or consumers, the number of platforms in the market has grown exponentially.
Today, I want to focus on how Tadabase shines in two key areas:
- Power and flexibility.
- The speed at which you can develop an application.
To emphasize this, we're going to talk about Tadabase plugins and what makes them so valuable.
What Are Tadabase Plugins?
To understand what plugins are and where they came from, we need to go back in history and talk about Tadabase as a platform. Since the inception of Tadabase, we've always been champions of low-code solutions. While Tadabase is a no-code application builder, we've always encouraged low-code implementations because they provide powerful customization options.
When you're building a Tadabase application, you can add custom code from the highest levels of the application down to the most granular levels. Starting with the actual header and footer that load with the page in a web browser, you can add code snippets like CSS or JavaScript. Additionally, on a per-page basis, you can go into CSS or JavaScript tabs to provide the ultimate flexibility when interacting with the native Tadabase features and elements on the page.
Evolution of Low-Code Solutions to Plugins
Over the years, we've seen amazing contributions of low-code snippets and different ways to modify and tweak your application using low-code solutions. We've since packaged all of that together and released it as plugins.
Plugins are snippets of code that can be installed with a simple click of a button in a no-code interface. They still allow for the flexibility and power of low-code solutions by giving you access to the plugin code that's installed.
Demonstration: Side Panel Data Widget Plugin
The specific plugin we're working with today is the "Side Panel Data Widget." This plugin allows us to take a component on a page and open it up inside of a side panel on the page with a simple click of a button.
Let’s see how quickly and easily we can accomplish this goal using Tadabase plugins.
Implementing the Side Panel Data Widget Plugin
I'm trying to add new tasks to a task data table using a form and displaying them using a table component. Scrolling back up to the top of the page, I'll click "Plugins," choose the Side Panel Data Widget, select the component I want to open in the widget, and click "Install." Just like that, I’m done.
When I preview this page and go into the Project Details page, we now have a new button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. I click it, and it opens my form in a widget. The amount of time I was able to save by using the Tadabase plugin is invaluable—not to mention that the side panel widget looks really cool and is highly functional.
Flexibility with Tadabase Plugins
Better yet, when combined with the flexibility and power I talked about earlier, we have access to the CSS used for the plugin, so we have complete control if we want to change the background color. The full JavaScript code is available to us as well.
There’s so much power and opportunity at your fingertips when using this kind of system. For example, if you reference a video I did a couple of weeks ago where I talked about using ChatGPT to help with low-code or coding solutions, you could simply take this entire JavaScript code and ask ChatGPT a question about how to configure it, even if you don’t know how to code.
Exploring Other Plugins
There are many other plugins that contribute to the rapid development of our application. For instance, there’s one in the upper left-hand corner that allows us to display a status of some kind as a progress bar. Since we're on a detail page, I can grab that value from a detail component and display it as a progress bar. After refreshing the page, you’ll see we now have a progress bar at the top.
Again, I didn't have to spend hours configuring each element of this progress bar. Instead, I installed it as a completed plugin that I can modify later if needed.
Conclusion: The Importance of Speed and Flexibility
With all that said, I believe speed of development is one of the most important aspects of a platform, especially when considering the entirety of the platform—not just as a way to manage and view your data, but as a development suite that allows us to build long-lasting and impactful applications.
Please excuse me while I go back to installing many more plugins into this application so that I can really push this page to the next level.Closing
That’s it for today’s episode of Build It with Tadabase. We’ll see you next week. Thanks so much for watching. Take care!
