Attachments (Files)
What is the Attachment (Files) Field?
Attachment fields enable you to upload multiple files to a record, through a drag-and-drop interface, in order to view the file or display the file for download.
Uploaded files are stored on Tadabase servers by default.
Certain subscription plans offer the ability to set your own storage location.
Max filesize is 10MB
Field Options
Creating or editing an Attachments field will have the following options to configure:
Name
This setting allows you to name your Attachments field. For instance, "Inspection Photos" or "Registration Documents".
Description
This setting allows you to add an optional description of this field for your own reference.
Secured
This setting allows you to place an extra security layer on this field by limiting the ability to view or download the uploaded files.
By default, the Secured setting is set to "No", meaning files are not secured with this download restriction at default.
When this option is enabled, users will only be able to view or download the uploaded files by:
- Logging in to the Tadabase Builder and accessing the file from the Data Builder
- Logging in to the Published Application and accessing the file from a Data Component on a Page.
IMPORTANT:
The secured setting is not compatible with the DropBox File Storage Location Setting
For security purposes, all files uploaded to a secured field will remain secured - even if the secured setting is disabled.
You will NOT be able to access the file through a direct link or URL when the secured setting is enabled.
Download Link Text Format
This setting allows you to define how the file is displayed to a User in Data Components and your Published Application. You may select from the following options:
- Use File Name - the files will be displayed as a link, where the link text is the file name.
- Use Custom Value - the files will be displayed as a link, where the link text is defined by you. This text will be the same for all uploaded files.
- Use Field Value - the files will be displayed as a link, where the link text is the value of another field from the record. For example, you can display the link text as the value from a "Customer Name" field.
- Display Link as an Image - the files will be displayed as an image.
If Display Link as an Image is enabled, non-image file extensions will appear as a clickable icon. No filename will be shown.
